In recent years, there have been calls for young people to move away from cars. This is partly because of high prices, but also because of the lack of attractive models. On the other hand, there is a JDM (Japan Domestic Market) boom in the U.S., and Japanese sports cars from the 90's are becoming more and more popular. Therefore, I would like to introduce five models, mainly coupes, from the 90's, when many famous cars were released. Nissan Skyline GT-R

The Nissan Skyline GT-R is one of the most popular sports cars in Japan. In the 1990s, its successors, the R33 and R34, were also released, but the R34 was the last model to carry the Skyline GT-R name.
Toyota Supra

The Toyota Supra was an independent model from the Celica XX, and in the 1990s, the first generation A70 and the second generation A80 were released. The second generation in particular is known as the "80 Supra" and is still very popular today. It is characterized by its streamlined form that emphasizes air characteristics, and has a cult-like popularity in North America since the main character in the movie "Wild Speed" was driving it.
Honda NSX

The Honda NSX was introduced in 1989, at the height of the bubble economy, and is the first Japanese car in a long time to be called a "supercar". The price ranged from 8 million yen to 15 million yen, the highest among Japanese cars at the time. It featured the world's first "all-aluminum monocoque body," a structure that was both lightweight and rigid.
Mitsubishi Eclipse

The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a model produced by Diamond Star Motors, a U.S. subsidiary of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, and imported back to Japan. It was sold mainly in the North American market, and even the Japanese model remained left-hand drive. Also, according to the American law at the time, the car was equipped with an automatic seatbelt installation system. Incidentally, the Eclipse GS was the first car I ever bought. I still think it is the most beautiful car in the world.
Mazda RX-7

The Mazda RX-7 is a sports car characterized by its rotary engine and retractable headlights. the second generation FC3S and FC3C, and the third generation FD3S were sold in the 1990s. the second generation had a cabriolet model with a sleek and impressive form. After the company's Eunos Cosmo was discontinued in 1996, the RX-7 became the only mass-produced car in the world with a rotary engine.
